Menopause Related Memory Loss

Dr. Devi discusses menopause related memory and cognitive loss with the NYTimes. In an another study, summarized by the WSJ and in full here, Dr. Devi found that NYC gynecologists were far more likely to use (64%) than to prescribe (18%) estrogen.

Dr. Devi has been researching the effects of hormones on cognition since 1999. Her Journal of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology article discusses misdiagnosis of cognitive changes of menopause, where menopause related memory loss was misdiagnosed as dementia.  About 60% of women undergo memory loss during menopause, nearly all improving over time or with treatment.
